CoolSprings Galleria Is Premier Shopping Destination

CoolSprings Galleria

New lighting was one of the many changes made at the CoolSprings Galleria during its recent $10 million renovation.

The only mall in Middle Tennessee with five department stores is a huge success story.

Just ask the 17 million people who shop there each year.

CoolSprings Galleria is a 1.1 million-square-foot super regional center that attracts shoppers from as far away as northern Alabama and southern Kentucky.

Its five anchor stores are Dillard’s‚ JC Penney‚ Macy’s‚ Sears and Belk‚ with Belk opening in the fall of 2007 following its purchase of the Parisian store chain.

Besides these department stores‚ the Galleria also has 160 specialty stores and restaurants on site.

“With $400 million in annual sales‚ we contribute quite a significant amount of sales tax revenue to Williamson County‚” says David Meadows‚ general manager of CoolSprings Galleria. “And for shoppers‚ many of our specialty stores are the only ones of their kind in the Middle Tennessee market.”

Those stores include Bandolino‚ Bombay Kids‚ “346” Brooks Brothers‚ Hollister Co. and Jessica McClintock.

“We also have a spacious food court with 12 different restaurants and seating for 500‚” Meadows says. “With more than 6‚000 parking spaces available on our property‚ the Galleria offers convenient access to all kinds of great shops and restaurants.”

The mall has also recently completed a yearlong‚ $10 million renovation process that included a number of interior and exterior upgrades.

“We put in a double elevator that can easily accommodate strollers and wheelchairs‚ and we relocated the south-end escalator to a more convenient spot near Sears‚” says Dana Katterjohn‚ marketing director for CoolSprings Galleria. “We also added carpeting on the upper level to increase walking comfort and decrease noise‚ and installed wood flooring and tile in the lower level.”

Other additions include new ceiling fixtures that provide brighter lighting and are more energy-conscious. There are also more restrooms throughout the mall‚ including a family restroom.

“We also put in soft seating areas‚ so women can now shop longer because their husbands are more comfortable relaxing on big chairs and couches‚” Katterjohn says with a laugh. “There have also been upgrades to much of our signage‚ including a renovation to the main marquee sign that motorists see along Interstate 65.”

The owner of the mall – CBL & Associates Properties of Chattanooga – not only owns the Galleria‚ but also Cool Springs Crossing that adjoins the property on the north side. Cool Springs Crossing features stores such as Target‚ Toys R Us and Wild Oats.

“We have a good mix of shopping destinations throughout our entire Cool Springs location‚ with everything from upscale items to unusual merchandise for kids‚ teens and the elderly‚” Meadows says. “CoolSprings Galleria has been a big part of Williamson County since 1991‚ and we plan on being here for many more years to come.”
