Fairview Is the Next Area of the County Ripe for Development

Dianne Ellis

Dianne Ellis is president of the Fairview Area Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate of the Williamson County-Franklin Chamber of Commerce.

Dianne Ellis is pleased that Fairview still has a small-town feel to it‚ even though it’s about to grow by leaps and bounds.

“We are situated in the northwestern corner of Williamson County and are really the last part of the county to be discovered‚” says Ellis‚ president of the Fairview Area Chamber of Commerce and co-owner of Preferred Country Realty in Fairview. “However‚ things are starting to happen here. Nice homes are beginning to be built in the $400‚000 to $600‚000 range‚ and most of them are being constructed on half-acre lots. Getting a little bit of land with your house is virtually unheard of anymore for new homes in this county‚ but that is not the case here in Fairview.”

The city has been under a state-mandated sewer moratorium for the last few years due to a strain on the existing sewer system‚ and that has resulted in a slowdown of businesses opting to move into the city. However‚ the Water Authority of Dickson County that oversees the Fairview system has been upgrading and adding sewer lines in 2006 and 2007.

“Once the moratorium is officially lifted‚ I can say without hesitation that plenty of businesses will be coming to Fairview‚” Ellis says. “We are already being researched by a number of companies that I can’t talk about yet‚ but business is very interested in us. It’s only a matter of time before they start locating here.”

Fairview is already somewhat healthy businesswise‚ with the chamber consisting of 120 members.

“For a small-town chamber‚ we are doing quite well‚” Ellis says. “Our city offers a nice scenic location with a convenient access to Interstate 40‚ State Route 840 and Highway 100‚ and we are only 30 minutes from downtown Nashville‚ 20 minutes from Franklin and 15 minutes from Dickson. We have a really excellent quality of life here.”

That quality of life includes a 722-acre Bowie Park & Nature Center that has 17 miles of hiking and biking trails. There is also a Fairview Recreation Center that has a swimming pool‚ weight room and senior citizens center.

“In addition‚ the chamber hosts an annual business expo in March‚ as well as two Picnic in the Park networking evenings in May and August‚” Ellis says. “We also have an annual Nature Fest in September that has been going on for more than 30 years. Yes‚ Fairview continues to be somewhat of a secret‚ but the secret is starting to get out.”
